Unfortunately, none for Emporium.

Penn Highlands Healthcare
Penn Highlands Healthcare to offer new retail pharmacies in the Northwest and Southwest Regions.

People in the Greater Clearfield region will have a convenient Penn Highlands Healthcare retail pharmacy offering drive-thru service with Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy - Clearfield. Situated in the heart of the borough's business district, the pharmacy will be located at 307 E. Market Street in Clearfield, at the site of the Rite Aid Pharmacy that recently closed. The pharmacy will open later this fall.

Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy - Mon Valley, our first community pharmacy in the Southwest Region, will be located on the campus of Penn Highlands Mon Valley on the ground floor of the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center. The pharmacy will be open to the public as well as to Penn Highlands Healthcare employees. Its location on the hospital campus enables patients to have their prescriptions filled after receiving care. The pharmacy will be open this fall.

St. Marys Pharmacy is relocating from its current location on Railroad Street in St. Marys to the Eye Center Building on the campus of Penn Highlands Elk at 765 Johnsonburg Road in St. Marys.
When the pharmacy opens at the new location it will be rebranded as Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy – St. Marys.
The Eye Center will remain in its current location offering the same expert care.
Penn Highlands Community Pharmacy – St. Marys will continue to provide all of the services people in the region rely on from the retail pharmacy.
The move is expected to occur this December.

Shippen Township Announces Updated Fee Schedules

Shippen Township would like to inform you of a necessary update regarding the use of the roll-off containers at the Township Building.
Over the past few months, we have seen significant increases in the costs associated with the roll-off services, which has made it necessary for the Township to adjust our pricing to continue providing this valuable service.
As a result, effective 9/4/25, there will be an increase in fees for items brought to the Township building to be disposed of in the roll-off container.
This adjustment will help ensure that we can continue to offer the same services while maintaining the sustainability of the Township's roll-off program.
Updated fee schedules will be available at the Township Office.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Shippen Township Refuse department for more information.

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Open House

'

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosted an open house for the funders of the $650,000 innovation center in downtown Emporium. The facility once housed the popular Cabin Kitchen. The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Foundation purchased the building in February and has been focused on renovating the kitchen area into a state of the art incubator kitchen.

Chamber officials say four individuals/businesses have completed a user request form reserving 20 hours per week at the facility. The kitchen incubator features induction cooking, a flash freezer, three convection ovens, a proofer and equipment for packaging items. The funding for the renovations to the kitchen and equipment came from USDA and West Penn Energy Fund.

The multi-tenant facility with a focus on economic development is now home to the chamber office, artisan center, CareerLink, Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and WLEM/WQKY. Executive Director Tina Solak says sweat equity with countless volunteer hours, and local contractors made the renovations to the facility. “Rick Vassallo, Rhino Flooring, Graham Electric, Scott Burnside and the Emporium Borough maintenance crew deserve the credit for the transformation since February”, according to Solak. Funding came from FY23 Federal Appropriations (HUD), Seneca Resources, DCED, George A and Margaret Mee Charitable Foundation, and Sylvan Heritage Council.

During the private open house Solak says funders got to see how the money was spent and forge new relationships with those in attendance. Plans are underway for more ServSafe, business planning and culinary classes open to the public including students at Cameron County High School. US Congressman Glenn Thompson and State Representative Martin Causer addressed the 40 people in attendance, praising the vision of the chamber to make an economic impact in the rural community.

The public is invited to stop in Monday-Saturday during open hours to tour the facility. Another open house is planned for September for home bakers/makers to see the equipment and explore opportunities to grow their businesses
