Woman pleads guilty to shooting Cameron County DA

CAMERON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A woman has pleaded guilty to shooting Cameron County District Attorney Paul J. Malizia at his office last year.

Porice D. Mincy, 32, of Cameron County pleaded guilty on Monday, May 20 on felony aggravated assault charges in Cameron County Court. She was sentenced to four to eight years in prison by Senior Judge Pamela Ruest.

On June 14, 2023, Mincy appeared at Malizia’s private practice office without an appointment to make demands regarding a property transfer Malizia had handled. After arriving at the office, Mincy became belligerent. During the altercation, Mincy shot Malizia in the leg and fled the scene, according to the attorney general.

The investigation found that Mincy targeted Malizia over a dispute relating to his private law practice, not because he was the district attorney.

“This brazen act of violence is particularly disturbing because it involves an armed individual shooting an elected official sworn to serve and protect his community,” Attorney General Henry said. “I commend District Attorney Malizia for his continued commitment to his community despite this traumatic assault.”

Malizia was treated at an area hospital and released the same day.
