The Little Museum Opens for the 2024 Season Saturday, May 25

The Little Museum Opens for the 2024 season officially this Saturday May 25.
Our hours are from 1-4 PM Wed, Sat, and Sun or by appointment.

We are thrilled to announce that we are now handicap accessible for those disabled visitors who have longed to come for a visit, thanks to a recent grant from the Mee Foundation. Plus, we have a new ceiling in the McNarney Room, that gives the room a totally different look included within the grant.

What would become of our amazing counties history without our local foundations and our communities continual support.

Our President, John Kautz while monitoring the work done by the contractors at the Museum, has been busy doing all types of maintenance repairs by improving the lights in the cabinets, rearranging our lumber industry displays, including many of our photos that are now more visible to see, and so much more.

One of our newest donations that will generate memories is the original "Cameron Hotel. " bar. It has been mounted on the wall along with our amazing new bottle collection. So many of us have fond memories of that ole "Honky-tonk." The pool tables, pin ball machine, and juke box to name a few. Does anyone remember the faded World Series Pittsburgh Pirates poster that hung on the wall when they won the pennant in 1960? Did you ever take notice of the beveled mirror attached to the bar and the incredible wood work it had? It truly was piece of art. Probably not, you were too busy asking "Bobby" Meyers for a beer to satisfy your thirst. This is display you don't want to miss.

Just as a reminder that the Cameron County Historical Society has two separate locations. The "Little Museum" is a gallery full of thousands items on display featuring our counties past is located in Sterling Run along PA Route 120 now open for the season.

For those seeking information and research on our counties past those records are stored at our environment friendly History and Genealogy Center located at 125 Greenwood Street in Emporium. This center is open year around every Tuesday from 10-12:30 and by appointment.

Our hours for the Museum this season are from 1-4 PM Wed, Sat, Sun, and by appointment. If you want to make arrangements to visit one of these location at another time please give us a call at 814-486-0334 or e-mail us at: historycenter1@windstream.net

We love sharing our history!  We're preserving it for you.
