Saint Marys Airport Drag Races
The Saint Marys Area Drag Race Committee has unfortunate news for our great supporters.
The Federal Aviation Administration has made a decision to reject the request to close runway 10-28 of OYM (the Saint Marys Area Municipal Airport) following the release of nation-wide guidelines regarding the use of airport runways for non-aviation events. There is no appeals process and all avenues at our disposal have been exhausted, so we are disappointed to announce that the SMADR Committee has decided to go on hiatus for another year.
This doesn't mean that there won't be Airport Drag races again, it just means that we won't be hosting any events this year.
We can't thank all of our sponsors, racers, and spectators enough for your support and we can't express how appreciative we are of all the volunteers who make every event a great show.
None of it would've been possible without all of you and we will continue to do whatever is possible to do it again soon.
In the meantime, we ask you to support your local track and contact your state & federal representatives and let them know how you feel about the FAA's decision and how it impacts you & the community. With that being said, have a great summer, be safe while having fun, and please don't race on public roadways.
