Robert D. Lyon


Robert D. Lyon, 85, of 584 Rich Valley Road, Emporium, PA died at his residence on Friday morning (February 7, 2020). He was born July 30, 1934 in Emporium, PA a son of the late William and Irene Uber Lyon. On September 4, 1954 in Ft. Devens, Massachusetts he married Veronica Wennin, who survives. Bob graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1952. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He earned his Bachelor degree in 1960 in Business Administration from TriState University in Angola, Indiana. He retired after over 26 years, from DCNR in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club, VFW and the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and golfer and even hit a hole in one on one of his golf outings. He was a co-manager for the Foundation Little League team in the 1970's and the Alle Cats Baseball team. Years ago he played softball for the Mountaineers.

 In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a daughter, Leslie (Michael) Songer, Emporium; a son, Rod (Melissa) Lyon, Orrtanna, PA; four grandchildren: Kelly (Rick) Palaia, Taylor Songer, Rachel and Logan Lyon; one great granddaughter Lilia Palaia; three brothers, William (Catherine) Lyon; Alvin Lyon both of Emporium; John (Shirley) Lyon, Corry; one sister, Linda (George Cleaveland) Woods, Emporium.

 He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. 

A Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 306 S Spruce St, Emporium, PA on Wednesday (February 12, 2020) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, officiating. Military Service accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail will follow. 

Burial will be in the Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium, PA

 Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second St., Emporium, PA 15834.
