Lanty Phillips, Jr


Lanty Phillips, Jr., 70, of 3014 Gardeau Rd., Austin, PA, formerly of Clover Lick, West Virginia, died at Penn Highlands DuBois, DuBois, PA, on Saturday morning (March 9, 2019). He was born May 31, 1948 in Clover Lick, West Virginia, a son of the late Lanty and Christine Blanchard Phillips. On June 7, 1996, in St. Marys he married Laurie Bixby, who survives.

Lanty served with the US Army during Vietnam War. He had worked in the logging industry many years before working and eventually retiring from GE Motor Coil. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting and cutting grass on his John Deere tractor. Lanty was involved with the Cameron County School District Music Boosters while his daughter, Ruth Ann, was in school. He enjoyed his daily trips to Fuel On to get coffee with friends, and his lunch meetings with his wife at Fox's Pizza. Also, he enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus for various events.

 In addition to his wife, Laurie, he is survived by a son, Ryan (Davina) Bixby, Poplar Bluff, MO; two daughters, Ruth Ann Phillips, Austin and Bobbi Jo (Larry) Green, North Bend, PA; four grandchildren; one sister, Barbara (Steven) Speta, Scio, NY; and two nephews, Russell (Lisa) Weaver, Sewickley, PA, and Mark (Wendy) Roboski, Angelica, NY. He also leaves behind three special fur-grandchildren, Boe, Skipper, and Ruby Mae. He also is survived by his best friend and neighbor, 
Jim Gregory.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Allen Phillips. 

The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA, on Thursday (March 14, 2019) from 4-5 followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM with Rev. Bruce Burkness, Pastor, St John's Lutheran Church, officiating.
