 7/27/2018 2:30 PM POOLSIDE CHAT: ELK - Did you know that some of the Elk herd we have in PA came from Yellowstone? Did you know that Elk can weight up to 730 pounds! Have you ever seen elk antlers up close? Take a break from the pool to learn about these bodacious beasts!

7/27/2018 7:30 pm   FILM IN THE FOREST: ELK: Come out to the campground Amphitheatre to get educated about elk! Join an educator from the Elk Visitor Center as we discuss these marvelous mammals! We’re celebrating over a hundred years of the reintroduced elk species in the state. We’ll discuss the habitat they live in, what they eat, and much much more. Then, we’ll watch a short documentary about the reintroduction of our elk population. Don’t miss it, it will be Elkellant!!!!

7/28/2018 2:30 PM POOLSIDE CHAT: OWLS: How many owls do we have in PA? What do owls sound like? What do they eat? Are all owls nocturnal? Take a break from the pool to learn about these wise and intelligent creatures.

7/28/2018 8:00 PM OWL OUTLAWS: Did you know these fierce flyers were once convicted and persecuted in PA? The tale of these nocturnal prowlers really ruffles some feathers! Join us to find out what the owls were accused of and how they were acquitted of all charges.

7/29/2018 10:00 AM NATURE CRAFT &  STORY BUTTERFLIES: Campground kiddos, come out to the campground playground as we read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Learn about the stages of a caterpillars life cycle, what metamorphosis is, and what a cocoon is. After our chat, we will make some colorful caterpillars for you to take home. This program is developed for younger children, but all ages are welcomed!

7/29/2018 1:00 PM JAWS & PAWS: Hop, crawl, or trot your way over to the pool deck to learn about animal adaptations and take a look at the skulls and pelts of some of PA’s mammals.

In case of thunder, lightning or extreme weather conditions programs may be moved or cancelled. For all outdoor programs, please wear proper footwear and clothing suited for a pleasant experience in the woods.
