Regina Kuntz Smith


Regina Kuntz Smith, age 93, of East Fourth Street, Emporium, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium.

Born May 13, 1924 in St. Marys, she was the daughter of John and Marie Simones Kuntz. On June 21, 1947 in St. Marys, she married Mark J. Smith who died March 3, 1984.

A longtime resident of Emporium she had previously lived in Wilson, NY.

Mrs. Smith, “Jean”, was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium, served on the Emporium Borough Shade Tree Committee for 30 years, and was a former member of the Emporium Garden Club, the Emporium Country Club, and the Cameron County Antique Seekers. Jean loved nature, was an artist, florist and gardener and also enjoyed traveling, sometimes to exotic locations.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Smith of Emporium, and Mary Smith (Stephen Morse) of Virginia; six sons, Stephen Smith of Oregon, George (Seine) Smith of Louisiana, Michael (Bonita) Smith of Emporium; Richard (Wendy) Smith of York, David (Tracy) Smith of Maryland, and James (Elba) Smith of Connecticut; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Kuntz of St. Marys; one sister, Ann Margaret Keller of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: six brothers, Henry, Jerard, Frank, Joseph, John and James Kuntz; and one sister, Mary Kuntz Minns.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 10 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in St. Mark Church with Fr. Paul Siebert, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Special Olympics PA, 2610 Clyde Ave., Ste B, State College, PA 16801 or the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 W Fourth Street, Emporium PA 15834.
