Donald E. Palmer


Donald E. Palmer, 84, of 178 S. Mountain Rd., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands-DuBois, DuBois, PA on Saturday (April 21, 2018) morning following a brief illness. He was born December 19, 1933 in Emporium, PA a son of the late Richard E and Martha Knight Palmer. On December 8, 1953 in St. Mark Catholic Church he married Reba Reed, who survives. Don and his wife Reba were married over 64 years. He served three years with the US Army s 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper and trainer. He worked at the former Coppersmith Furniture Store for several years installing flooring. He then worked as a self employed carpenter for many years until his retirement. Don was a member of the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221 VFW, the American Legion Olkosky-Jessop Post 194, Emporium, St. Mark Catholic Church, Bucktail Rod & Gun Club, Emporium Fire Department where he had served as Chief for many years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by daughter, Debra R. Lyon, Emporium; son, Donald J. Palmer, Emporium; daughter, Diane Y. Catalano, St. Marys; son, David M. (Tina) Palmer, Porter Corners, NY; daughter, Martha M (Michael McMackin) Palmer, St. Marys; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard and Fredrick Palmer and one in infancy.

Services will be announced at a future date.

 Burial will be in the Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium, PA
