OCTOBER PROGRAMS AT SINNEMAHONING STATE PARK

Saturday, Oct 7, 1:00 PM -3:00 PM Tree ID Bike Tour – Join park staff on a 4-mile bicycle tour to learn about the trees that live along the Lowlands Trail between 40 Maples and the lake. Loaner bicycles available. Pre-registration is required. Meet at 40 Maples Day Use Area

Saturday, Oct 7, 5:00 PM Until Dark Elk Watch – Learn about elk behavior during the rut as we search for elk in the fields of Sinnemahoning. Binoculars and scope available for use with help from park staff and volunteers. Location TBD: where elk are active

Sunday, Oct 8, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Nature Craft: Woodland Fairies - Create woodland fairy decorations using natural materials in this enchanting autumn program. Materials and instruction provided. Cost $5.00 pp. Pre-register by Oct. 5. Park Office &Wildlife Center

Saturday, Oct 14, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM FIRST FORK FESTIVAL - Celebrate the history and culture of the First Fork Sinnemahoning Valley at the fifth annual First Fork Festival. The First Fork Festival features local authors, artists and artisans showcasing their talents amidst a backdrop of full autumn color in the Pennsylvania Wilds. The 2017 festival line-up includes Local Music and Entertainment, including, Van Wagner presentation “Soft Coal Hard Times”, Arts and Crafts Demonstrations, Local History and Interactive Programs, Book Signings by Local Authors, PA Wilds Artisans, Local Arts and Crafts, Food and Drink Vendors. Held at the Park Office & Wildlife Center

Friday, Oct 20, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Homeschool Day: Explore Bow Hunting - Students will learn safe archery and hunting skills and develop an overall appreciation for wildlife and nature. All students grades 6-12. Pre-registration required. Park Office & Wildlife Center

Saturday, Oct 21, 2:00 PM –3:00 PM Archery Demo Day - Discover the exciting sport of archery! Join park staff to learn about basic archery equipment, safety, shooting techniques and more. Stop by anytime between 12:00 & 3:00 for this free program.40 Maples Use Area

Saturday, Oct 28, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM HAUNTED HALLOWEEN TRAIL and All Hallows Eve Celebration - On-going activities include hayride, bonfire, music and more! All are welcome! Open to the public. Program Cost $10 per carload. Park Office & Wildlife Center All Hallows Eve Celebration, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Crafts, games & activities for younger children. Less scary version of trail for the little ones. Bwana Jim’s Wild Animal Show, 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Entertaining educational program for all ages Haunted Halloween Trail, 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Scarier version of trail for older children & adults including haunted poachers’ camp, zombies, chainsaw butcher, and other creatures of the night.
