L& M Lumber teaming up with the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce and sponsoring a house decorating contest this season. The contest enters its third season according to Tina Johns Solak, executive director of the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce. “We want people to use a social hashtag and take selfies in front of their favorite home.” The hashtag #CameronCountyDeckedOut will be tracked and hopefully go viral.
A $5.00 entry fee will place a home on the map. The deadline to register at the chamber office is Friday December 2. Prizes will be determined by the number of votes each property receives. Voting is limited to one per individual/family. Ballots will appear in local newspapers, or can be picked up at the chamber. No ballots can be reproduced and must be returned to the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce by 4pm Saturday December 17. The winners will be announced Monday December 19. First place will take home $100.00 chamber bucks, second place $50.00 and third place $25.00.
Participating homes must have their lights on December 9-16, 6-9pm. Maps will be available at the chamber office starting December 6. It will include the participating homes and a ballot
