Firequacker Duck Derby Ready for First Fork Festival

Firequacker Duck Derby Ready for First Fork Festival

A major fundraiser for the fireworks that light up the sky in Cameron County set for Saturday October 8 in conjunction with the First Fork Festival at Sinnemahoning State Park. The Firequacker Duck Derby will be held at Forty Maples Day Use Area starting at 1:00 Saturday. “All of the events coordinated by the chamber of commerce benefit all residents of Cameron County, but most of those activities take place in Emporium,” explained Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Johns Solak. “Since the Firequacker race moved to Sinnemahoning, crowds continue to grow!” Solak continued.

More than 300 ducks have been adopted and will paddle down the First Fork. The first, second and third place finishers will earn their adopted trainers cash prizes. Ducks can be adopted in Emporium until noon on Friday October 7 at L&M Lumber, and the chamber of commerce office. At the First Fork Festival ducks will be available until noon Saturday at the fireworks stand where hot sausage, kraut and plain hotdogs, beef on wick and soup will be sold.

The fireworks will blast off Saturday, July 1 from the Cameron County High School.
