Charles R. Copp


Charles R. Copp, 86, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA formerly of West Creek Rd. died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Saturday (September 24, 2016) afternoon.

He was born May 2, 1930 in Ansonia, Tioga County, PA a son of the late Sterry O. and Mildred Smith Copp. On December 24, 1949 in Painted Post, NY he married Virginia Matteson, who survives.


Charles attended school in Wellsboro In 1947 he enlisted in the US Army and served in Korean until 1949. Later he was called back to the service and again served in Korean until 1951 when he was discharged. He was awarded the bronze star for his service. Charles work for Corning Glass Works for over 23 years before moving to Emporium 1969. After moving to Emporium, he was employed by Emporium contractors and later by Emporium Borough and Shippen Township. In 1992 he was elected Shippen township supervisor. He retired on May 2, 1995.

 Surviving in addition to his wife Virginia Copp; two sons, Rickey Lee (Pam) Copp and Robert O. (Vicki) Copp; one daughter, Wanda Jordan. 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild; one Brother, Sterry (Jean) Copp.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterry O. and Mildred Smith Copp, one sister, Mariam Sample, two brothers, Ronald & Lauren Copp, No visitation.

A Memorial Service will be held at the VFW, 3rd St., Emporium, PA on Sunday (October 9, 2016) at 1:00 PM with a Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail to follow.
