Elizabeth C. Woomer, of Grove Street, Sinnemahoning, died Sunday, January 29,2012, in Elk Regional HealthCenter, St. Marys.
Born in Sinnemahoning, she was the daughter of Anthony and Anna PiperFulton. On June 30, 1939 in Emporium she married Clark Emerson Woomer who died September 28, 1959.
A lifelong resident of Sinnemahoning, she was a graduate of Emporium High School.
She was employed for 5 years as a tube tester by Sylvania Electric in Emporium before she was married. Later she served as Gibson Township TaxCollector for 50 years and was Secretary for both GroveTownship and Gibson Townshipfor many years. She was also an Avonrepresentative for 10 years. In 2007 she was the recipient of theNational Weather Service John Campanius Holm Award and was recognized by the agency for over 30 years of dedication and outstanding service in the Cooperative Weather Observers Program.
Mrs. Woomer was a Minister of Music and a member of the Sinnemahoning United MethodistChurch where she was thepianist for many years, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and served as Treasurer. She was also active in local politics and was a DemocraticCommittee Person.
Survivors include: two sons, Emerson K. Woomer of Sinnemahoning and Allen A. Woomer of Tionesta; one daughter, Mrs. Reed (Lisa) Moritz of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by 2 sons, Neil Woomer in 1998 and Clark Woomer in2011 and two brothers, Keith Fulton in 1978 and Neil Fulton in 1984.
Friends will be received in the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church,Friday, February 3, from 10 until 11 a.m. at which time Funeral & Committal Services will be held with the Rev. Timothy Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Crum Cemetery, Sinnemahoning.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church
