Eva J. Wilson Meisel

Eva J. Wilson Meisel, 72, of St. Marys, PA, formerly of Emporium and Betula, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday (June 27, 2025) at Transitions Healthcare in Washington, PA with her loving family and dear friends continually by her side, after a long and truly courageous battle with multiple system atrophy.

Born January 6, 1953, in Driftwood, PA, Eva was the daughter of the late Mila Wilson. She graduated from Cameron County High School with the Class of 1970. On December 22, 2001, in Ireland a place as vibrant and spirited as she was she married the love of her life, the late William “Bill” Meisel.

Eva’s work ethic and warmth touched many throughout her career. She spent many years at Coppersmith’s Furniture Store and Emporium Hardwoods, and later retired from CAPSEA, where her compassion and dedication made a difference in many lives. Throughout her life, Eva was active in numerous social organizations and was a cherished member of several tight-knit circles.

Eva will be remembered most for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and boundless energy. Even through the challenges of illness, she never lost her spark. She found joy in traveling, often alongside her beloved high school friends, her St. Marys companions “The Daisys,” or her devoted companion, Mike Vida. But her happiest moments were always those spent surrounded by her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Richard Lewis; daughter, Laura Caton (Seth); and her grandchildren: Reese Ezra, Eleanora, and Brooks Caton. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Amity Meisel, Amanda Wiegand (Jared), and Chip Meisel; her sisters, Debbie Priest and Karla Lardner (Paul); her companion, Mike Vida; and Mike’s caring sister, Judy Vida.

In addition to her mother and husband, Eva was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Wilson.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA, on Saturday (July 12, 2025). Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 11:45 AM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Paul S. Siebert. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, St. Marys, PA.

Following the service there will be a celebration of life gathering at 311 Howard Circle, Emporium.
