🚧 Project Spotlight: Steam Mill Road Local Bridge Replacement 🚧
Since 1940, the Steam Mill Road Bridge in Cameron County has served as a gateway to the 217,000-acre Elk State Forest. Now in poor condition, the bridge has a posted weight limit of only 5 tons.
With support from multiple sources, the Steam Mill Road Bridge is set for a full replacement! Construction of the new bridge is made possible through a $1.23 million Rural Surface Transportation Grant, part of an $8.55 million federal award.
Additional funding from North Central's Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and PennDOT brings the total project budget to $2.04 million.
Construction is slated for 2026, ensuring safer access to the Elk State Forest and a critical emergency route to SR 120. Stay tuned—more local bridge projects will be featured in the coming weeks!
