March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM), a time to celebrate the incredible potential and needs of people with developmental, intellectual and autism disabilities.
Elk and Cameron Counties’ Behavior and Developmental Program out of Ridgway partnered with me again this year (last time was March 2023) to provide a magical evening of painting and fellowship at the studio.
My heart is still overflowing with warmth. The love and sweetness that filled the room was palpable. It’s hard to describe….I guess you’d just have to be there. I feel blessed to have been a part of it. These remarkable souls may have limitations, but they are undoubtedly gifted by God with an extra measure of love, kindness, and gentleness. We can all learn valuable lessons from their example. They embody these qualities effortlessly, without even striving. That’s just the way they are. I’m getting choked up just writing this. Check out their beautiful art. Each piece is one of a kind- just like them. 🧡
