Barbara Anne Boden Chamberlin of Mountain Top, Pa., passed away Aug. 5, 2024, at Providence Place in Drums, Pa., surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Chamberlin.

Barbara was born in Hawthorne, Nev., in 1945. She was the daughter of Evan Harold Boden and Anne Pauling Boden. She grew up in Emporium, Pa. She graduated from Emporium High School in 1963. She then went on to get her Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Bucknell University, graduating in 1967. Barbara played clarinet in the marching and concert bands at Bucknell and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She met her husband while she was at Bucknell and they were married June 4, 1966. She was an elementary school teacher in Fort Wayne, Ind. She later started an antique cut glass business, which she was very passionate about, and was considered by many to be an expert in the field.

Barb and her family enjoyed boating and spent many great years on the Chesapeake Bay. Barb loved being by the ocean and spending time with her family on the beach. She spent some of her best years boating with her kids and then later her grandkids. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who referred to her as Nanny. She helped care for her grandkids, playing trains and having tea parties. She enjoyed watching them play baseball and perform in dance recitals. They were her pride and joy. Barb loved to spend time gardening. Any time the weather was nice she was outside planting flowers or pulling weeds.

Barb also had a very strong faith. Her father was a Baptist minister and she was raised to trust in the Lord with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength. She was a dedicated member of the Presbyterian Church of Mountain Top. She loved her church and her church family. She loved all of the cards she received and she said their prayers carried her through anything. She was always helping at the church and for many years Barb played the piano for Sunday school, playing for the Christmas program as well as for vacation Bible school. She loved music and loved playing the piano. Barb loved the saying from Mother Teresa "… do small things with great love." She was the most kind and giving person you would ever meet and she lived by this motto.

She is survived by brother, Gary Boden and his wife, Diana, of Emporium, Pa.; brother, Gene Boden and his wife, Marty, of Scotia, N.Y.; daughter, Laura Chamberlin of Mountain Top, Pa.; son, David and his wife, Dustine, of Pacifica, Calif.; daughter, Lisa and her husband, Steve Bachman, of Drums, Pa.; and five grandchildren: Tod Kania Jr. and his wife, Becca; Owen and Abigail Bachman; and Dean and Andrew Callahan.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in the Presbyterian Church of Mountain Top, with a luncheon to follow. Arrangements are being handled by McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.

Our family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Geisinger Hospital and the Henry Cancer Center who helped care for our mom over the past six years, following her initial diagnosis of cancer. Their care and compassion kept her going for over six years with cancer. We would also like to thank the staff at Providence Place and Commonwealth Hospice of Berwick for the amazing care they provided our mom in her last few weeks.
