Cameron County Fire Wire
The recent tour of Emporium Hardwoods was put to good use today. At 10:17AM Chief 14 requested the first alarm assignment for Emporium Hardwoods for a Structure Fire.
Chief 14 reported a Working Fire in the dust collection system and the pipes from the mill that fed it. Mckean Station 3 (Star Hose Company #1) was requested for the RIT assignment and Elk Company 1(Crystal Fire Department) and Austin Department 44 (Austin Volunteer Fire Department) were requested for tankers to the scene. Units operated for several hours, fire was contained to the dust collection system and the pipes from the lumber mill that fed it. There were no injuries to plant employees during the evacuation or first responders during fire suppression efforts.
