CC Farmers Market Welcomes Lester & Lucy Mauger

Cameron County Farmers Market

It’s time to introduce you to our next vendors and we are happy to welcome a very crafty couple to the farmers market: Lester & Lucy Mauger!

Lester & Lucy have lived in Emporium for the past 10 years, coming from opposite coasts to settle together in our beautiful little rural town in the heart of the PA Wilds. They will be new vendors at the farmers market this year and we are excited for you to see the fun and innovative creations that they will be selling.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Lester took up woodworking after he reached retirement and seems to have a natural talent for it. He salvages wood that he finds from old pallets, scrap lumber and discarded furniture and up-cycles it into new life as handsomely crafted boxes, spice racks and ladder picture frames. The wood he selects for each project is well chosen and beautifully finished in his downstairs workshop. He showed me a gorgeous spalted maple box that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional and would be great for storing jewelry or knick knacks. His picture frames can be made to order, filled with your own favorite memories, or he has a selection of themed photos that would make a great addition to any home. His oak spice racks can also be custom made and I was so taken with them that we have already put in an order for one ourselves, I can’t wait to hang it up in our kitchen!

Lucy also has a knack for crafting and up-cycles all sorts of materials to make fun decorations for the home. You might be familiar with her sun catchers and dream catchers that she has on sale at the local Artisan’s Centre at the Chamber of Commerce. For the market she will be bringing some new things she has been working on. She recycles old cans to make decorative owls that will be a big hit for the kids and cute little flowers pots that would look great on the kitchen windowsill. Lucy has also created a series of crosses studded with a beautiful selection of shells, gems and stones.

Another of Lester’s talents is baking and we hope that he will be bringing some delicious baked goods to the market this summer as well. No promises on that yet but we still hope to convince him!

Welcome to the market, Lester & Lucy, we are excited you will be joining us!
