Santa Arrives Friday

Santa Arrives Friday

Santa Claus is coming to Cameron County Friday night and will usher in a month long of Christmas activities for the entire family. Friday night the movie Elf will be shown in the vacant lot next to the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce. Various organizations will be selling food and drinks, but the popcorn is free! The parade steps off at 7pm from the former Fourth Street School and proceeds to the Cameron County High School. More than 20 floats will highlight the spectacular event. The tree lighting is planned following the parade with Santa hosting the event.

Saturday Santa will host breakfast at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department. The annual fundraiser for the fire department auxiliary will be held from 9am-11am. Downtown vendors will line Fourth Street selling gifts and food. Santa’s reindeer will also be town for the event. It is a busy day for Santa as he will then head to A Christmas Time and visit with children in the magical setting until 3pm. The Cameron County Recreation Center is hosting events from 3pm-9pm.

On Sunday parents are invited to A Christmas Time to wrap gifts! The wrap some sip some has become an annual event. Sunday night folks are invited to vote for their favorite decorated home in the county.

The following weekend brings Santa to A Christmas Time to visit with children on Saturday and pets on Sunday. Sunday’s event is a fundraiser for the Cameron County SPCA. A 50’s-60’s dance will be held for adults at A Christmas Time Saturday night at 8pm. Tickets are on sale at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce. The BYOB is $20 a person.

The weekend of December 18 and 19 focuses on family activities. Saturday Santa will be at A Christmas Time in the afternoon and Sunday families are invited to make ornaments form items found in nature. Santa will make his last stop at A Christmas Time December 22 when he will bring his favorite elf and host stories and cocoa. -30-
