It is Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce along with its members ready to #DeckoutCameronCounty this Christmas season. The 30 foot Blue Spruce tree donated by a property owner on East Third Street will arrive at the former Dolan Hotel lot in center of Emporium Saturday November 20. Motorists are asked to be alert Saturday morning as the transportation of the tree will fill the streets of East Third, Walnut and Fourth Streets. Cutting is to begin at 10am by Smoker Logging owners. Everyone is invited downtown while the lights and ornaments created by Rich Valley Burner are hung.

During the week leading to Thanksgiving Flowers N Things will decorate the eight flowerpots on Fourth Street. This year oversized ornaments and greens will overflow the pots. Candy Canes and lanterns will be fixed to the posts downtown. A big thank you to the Emporium Borough Street Department for retrofitting the lanterns.

#ShopSmall Saturday has been expanded to include the Friday following Thanksgiving. The chamber made the decision to expand so that businesses in the southern tier of the county can fully participate. Spend $10.00 at a participating business and receive one ticket to be entered into a drawing for numerous donated gifts. The drawing will be held Saturday 2pm at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office. Watch your favorite media outlet for a complete list of those businesses participating. That day will also feature customer appreciation at Flowers N Things and a craft show sponsored by the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the social hall.

L&M Lumber is hosting the house decorating contest. Nominations will be accepted through #ShopSmall Saturday at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office. Voting will begin December 4 and the winners announced December 18.

The following weekend is when Santa arrives! The community will be invited to watch the nighttime parade Friday December 3. More than 20 floats are expected to light up the event. The parade steps off from the former Fourth Street School at 7pm. Downtown a free movie will be shown, and snacks will be available for purchase during the tree lighting ceremony following the parade. The movie is a joint sponsored event with Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, and Cameron County Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday morning December 4 Santa will have breakfast with children at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department. The jolly old elf promises to bring his reindeer with him! Seneca Resources is helping in that transportation since Santa’s sleigh is getting ready for thebig trip. Vendors will be lining Fourth Street. The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce will host the basket raffle for the Quarterback Club which will draw the winners on Saturday. Tickets go on sale November 20.

Numerous events are planed at A Christmas Time hosted by Sarah Janes Gathering Place/Studio. Each weekend in December Santa will be spending time with Sarah and her elves. On Sunday December 12 pet owners are invited to come to A Christmas Time and have pictures taken with Santa. Proceeds will benefit the Cameron County SPCA.

The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce community calendar is available at www.cameroncountychamber.org. Events can be added by contacting the chamber.
