Sinnemahoning State Park Programs For the Weekend of July 10-11, 2021
Bluebirds, Chickadees, and More! Saturday, July 10, 2021, 3:00-4:00 PM, Wildlife Center Classroom. Learn about bluebirds, tree swallows, chickadees, and other cavity nesting birds, the habitats they prefer, and how you can welcome them to your yard. 1-hour PowerPoint presentation in the Wildlife Center classroom. Geared toward adults and older children, but all are welcome.
Nature Walk: Hello Bluebirds! Saturday, July 10, 2021, 4:30-5:30 PM, Pavilion 2 in the 40 Maples Day Use Area. Take a walk with the park educator to search for bluebirds and other songbirds while learning about their habitats and feeding habits. Includes a stop along the way to check on a local bluebird family. About 1 mile over mostly level terrain. All ages welcome. Bring your own binoculars our borrow ours.
Woodworking for Wildlife, Saturday, July 10, 2021, 8:00-8:30 PM – Campground Amphitheater. Would you like to invite owls, bats, kestrels, bluebirds, and other cavity-nesters to live in your backyard habitat? Build a nest box. Learn which style nest box each cavity-nester needs and how to find copies of the nest box plans for our Pennsylvania species. All are welcome, even those not camping in the park!
Campground Movie: Feathered Friends, Saturday, July 10, 2021, 8:45-9:30 PM – Campground Amphitheater. Experience the design and beauty of the diverse bird species of North America, from soaring eagles to drumming grouse and tiny hummingbirds, and more. 45-minute video nature. All are welcome!
Pontoon Boat Tours, Sunday, July 11, 2021, Three Tours: 9:00-10:15 AM; 10:30-11:45 AM; 12:00-1:15 PM, Lake Day Use Area. Join park staff for a relaxing and informative 1-hour tour of the lake as we search the shorelines for herons, ducks, turtles, and other wildlife. Program is free but donations are requested. All ages welcome. Reservations recommended but not required.
