Request for Proposals Geocache Trail Design & Implementation

Lumber Heritage Region of Pennsylvania, Inc.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Geocache Trail Design & Implementation
The Lumber Heritage Region (LHR) is seeking proposals from qualified firms or individuals to design and implement a geocache trail featuring 23 designated stops along the Lumber Heritage Trail, spanning 15 counties in Pennsylvania. The project aims to enhance visitor engagement, promote regional heritage, and encourage outdoor recreation through an interactive geocaching experience.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Each of the 23 designated locations will host a geocache, which will consist of a weatherproof cache box big enough for brochures, logbook, pencil, and a small takeaway item (if included in the final budget). The geocache trail should be designed to guide participants along the Lumber Heritage Trail in an engaging and educational way, incorporating historical and cultural significance from the LHT app at each stop.

Additionally, the entire trail must be officially registered with Geocaching.com to ensure accessibility and visibility to the geocaching community.

For any questions or additional information, please contact: Jennifer Weld, LHR Project Manager jennifer@lumberheritage.org 814-771-7723

CC Farmers Market Introduces Amy Thwing

Cameron County Farmers Market
Meet Amy Thwing, with Handmade by AMY, another new vendor joining us at the market this weekend!

For the past five years, Amy has been creating cozy, handcrafted blankets using soft jumbo yarn — all inspired by her seven grandchildren! What started as a thoughtful way to make meaningful gifts has grown into a full-on creative passion. To date, Amy has made over 400 blankets, many of which she’s given as gifts or donated to fundraisers in the community.

Her cozy blankets come in three thoughtful sizes to suit every need:
 - Couch-sized for snuggling up at home
 - Stadium-sized to keep you warm during chilly outdoor games
 - Baby-sized for the littlest loved ones in your life

And that’s not all — Amy’s creativity doesn’t stop at blankets. She also makes large, huggable stuffed animal toys that are perfect for kids (or kids at heart), plush, comfy pillows that add a handmade touch to any space, and adorable basket-style pet beds that your furry companions will love.

Each item is crafted with the same care and attention as her blankets, using soft, high-quality materials that are both machine washable and built to last.

Whether you’re looking for a heartfelt gift, a unique piece for your home, or something cozy for your pet, Amy’s got you covered.

She also loves bringing custom ideas to life — if you have a color, size, or special design in mind, she’ll be happy to create something just for you! Simply reach out to her at amy_thwing@yahoo.com to get started.

Come say hello at the market this Saturday August 9 at the Emporium Town Square, 9am to 12pm and explore Amy’s beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations in person — you're sure to find something that makes you smile!

3rd member of our Adventure Biking Series!

Look Up Cameron County
☀️ 3rd member of our Adventure Biking Series!☀️
Our next cycling enthusiast is Jeff Weidow.
Jeff is a Bike Fitter and an Endurance Cycling Coach.
He has completed a 30 day unsupported trek across the United States, which entailed of completing about 100 miles per day. He started an organization called ‘Project Pedal’ back in 2018.
Project Pedal is an organization that focuses on mental health and well-being through cycling.
At Project Pedal, they have a clear and powerful mission: to ignite a passion for cycling outdoors while prioritizing mental health. Jeff travels all over learning new routes and trails.
In past years he competed in the Sinnemahone Bike Race and loved the area here and the people.
He shared with us the features that he feels makes Cameron County stand out compared to other places he has been. We have rolling hills, amazing scenery, great climbing routes, and remoteness. He talked about the camaraderie of the cycling community here in Cameron County and how it is a welcoming environment for all people. His advice to people new to cycling is to enjoy simple routes and to just get out there and away from everyday busy life without worrying about having the best gear or overthinking it all. Just ride.
He also invites anyone to join the Beyond The Dirt cycling event coming up on August 9th!
Cyclists from all over the US come to ride in this event.
This event is a ride or race format with day of registration is available. Check out their website www.beyondthedirt.com to learn more. Thank you Jeff for taking time to meet with us!
