Mary Judith “Judy” Horvath, 86, of 596 Rich Valley Road, Emporium, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at The Phoenix Center in Phoenixville, PA. Born on September 20, 1938, in Elkland, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen G. and Mary Hertz Horvath.

A proud graduate of Cameron County High School, Class of 1957, Judy went on to pursue a degree in medical technology embarking on a lifelong career in the medical field. She spent the majority of her professional life in Elmira, NY, where she served as Blood Bank Supervisor at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After 35 years of dedicated service, she retired and returned to her hometown of Emporium, where she became an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Judy’s life was filled with simple joys and enduring passions. She had an abiding love for cats, a fondness for the color green, traveling to the beach, and was a fan of Johnny Mathis. Judy cherished her family and friendships deeply, always making time for laughter and heartfelt conversations.

Before Alzheimer’s altered the course of her life, Judy was known for her lively spirit, kindness, and boundless generosity. She loved sharing stories and memories of a life well lived, celebrating holidays with family and friends, and could be counted on to continue the tradition of preparing cherished family recipes handed down from her parents.
Judy is survived by her beloved twin sister, Rosalie Ives, of Emporium and Collegeville, PA; her cherished nieces, Jacqueline (Bill) Leonard and Terri (Tim) Horn, Collegeville, PA; and her six adored great-nieces and nephews: Alyson, Anna, Stephen, and Lauren Leonard, and Erik and Kelly Horn.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Horvath

Judy will be fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, her heart of gold and her passion for helping others.
