Natural Gas Impact Fee Delivers More than $6.3 Million to Region’s Communities

Natural Gas Impact Fee Delivers More than $6.3 Million to Region’s Communities

Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) announced detailed information about this year’s distribution of impact fees on natural gas producers, totaling $234,437,575.

At this point I want to make something clear; although it is listed as a “fee” the impact fee is in fact a tax on our natural gas industry. It is defined as a “fee” in order to be able to allocate the money through legislation in a way that ensures the communities that are impacted are able to more directly receive a significant portion of the tax. This is so the local governments can maintain the infrastructure as well as improve infrastructure that will enable our region to provide more of the energy our nation needs to heat and light up homes and businesses.

County and municipal governments directly affected by drilling will receive a total of $123,217,163 for the 2021 reporting year. Additionally, $86,030,934 will be transferred to the Marcellus Legacy Fund, which provides financial support for environmental, highway, water and sewer projects, rehabilitation of greenways and other projects throughout the state. Also, $25,189,477 will be distributed to state agencies, as specified by Act 13.

In our region, the counties of Cameron, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Potter and Tioga will receive a combined total distributions of $6.34 million:

Cameron – $414,908.46
 Clearfield – $460,627.82
Clinton – $367,053.53
Elk – $777,018.34
 Jefferson – $181,326.95
McKean – $454,728.97
 Potter – $341,800.62
 Tioga – $3,346,598.24

More information about the distributions can be found on the PUC’s Act 13 website.

Cameron County Farmers Market Introduces Southern Tier Gardens from Driftwood, PA

Cameron County Farmers Market
We are getting very excited for our first market coming up in less than two weeks! We have been busy meeting up with potential vendors and would like to introduce them all to you as they sign up so you can get excited too!

First up are Randy Bailey & Pam Baker from Southern Tier Gardens in Driftwood, PA. A fun couple of passionate gardeners that have taken a hobby to the next level! We had a great visit while we toured around their beautiful gardens. They have done an amazing job growing all sorts of vegetables and berries and their love of gardening shines through clearly in their weed-free beds, pesticide-free crops and plants bursting with vegetables this early in the season already. They have supplied Good Things Growing in past years so you might already be familiar with their delicious produce. We are very excited to have them on board and are thrilled to be able to offer Cameron County such healthy and nutritious produce!

Welcome to the market, Randy & Pam!!

What is the Cameron County Farmers Market? A place for our community to gather to buy and sell fresh produce, local artisan crafts, home-made baked goods and more. Opening officially in 2023 but will be popping up on select weekends this year to give you all a taste of what's to come.

Message us or email us at CCfarmersmarketPA@gmail.com to find out how to be a part of this exciting new venture coming to Cameron County soon!

My parents have thought of nothing else in the past 4 weeks but getting their beloved Marty back.
Thanks again, so much, to everyone who has shared our posts, spread the word, and offered help, encouragement, and prayers. It really has meant so much to my family.

Please continue to call in any sightings. 814-929-5453 or 814-512-2195

About a mile North of the Sinnemahoning State Park.

Last evening at 18:04 Station 44 was dispatched for a Wildfire in Wharton Township.

 Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett), Captain 44 (A.Bothell), Patrol 44-4 / 44-14 with Chief 44-30 (S.Hostetlar), Tanker 44-5 with Lt.44 (S.Foringer), Ambulance 44-6 with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) and Chief 44-70 (S.Orlowski), Rescue 44-8, and Patrol 44-24 responded.

Responding units were soon met by large amounts of smoke covering the area. Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett) was first on scene reporting large wildfire on the opposite side of the river moving quickly uphill, establishing Austin Command.

Command requested DCNR, and Brush Trucks from Station 48 (Coudersport), Company 14 (Emporium) and Company 16 (Sinnamahoning).

Patrol 44-4 / 44-14 with manpower deployed to the right flank and worked to establish a fire line and extinguish fire. Tanker 44-5 staged. Ambulance 44-6 set up rehab and accountability. Rescue Crew provided traffic control. Patrol 44-24 with manpower deployed to Pine Island Drive to get ahead of the fire, and worked to establish fire lines and extinguish fire.

A short time later Command requested availability of an air drop, an additional brush truck from McKean 3 (Port) and notified National Fuel as Fire was nearing their well area.

At 19:53 Ambulance 44-6 diverted from the scene and responded to a reported UTV Accident in the Driftwood Boro. Command requested an Ambulance from 49 (Coudersport) to cover the fire scene. Ambulance 44-6 was advised of accident with 2 patient one possibly in need of land rescue. A utility unit from Emporium also cleared the fire scene to assist. Ambulance 44-6 was the first arriving unit to the UTV accident, with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) immediately requesting 2 helicopters airborne. Stat 6 & Stat 11 responded. Land Rescue was unnecessary. Ambulance 44-6 and Ambulance 7-21 (Emporium) both transported to a landing zone in the Driftwood Boro secured by Engine 20 (Karthaus), Engine 1 (St.Mary’s), Utility 14 (Emporium) and personnel from Company 16 (Sinnamahoning). Stat 6 & 11 landed and departed safely. Ambulance 44-6 then cleared the scene and responded back to the fire scene.

Command was notified that air drop was unavailable to this fire, but a dozer and additional rangers were en route. Command also requested brush truck and manpower from 46 (Roulette). Additional Fire Police responded from Emporium.

Crews worked the fire in high temperatures and steep incline for over 4 hours. Exact size of the fire is unknown at this time but estimated at well over 20 acres. At 22:59 Command reported scene turned over to DCNR all units returning.

 At 23:44 Ambulance 44-6 with Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) and Lt.44 (S.Foringer) responded to a 3rd call, a Medical Emergency in Keating Township.

A huge thank you all our mutual aid companies who assisted, and those moved up to cover other stations. Also a big thank you goes out to the Local community members, Austin Baseball Association, Perry’s Store & Austin VFW for donating food and ice for our responders! And to all our members who cooked and brought drinks to the scene.
