Christmas in the Wilds Set for December 13-15

Touring Cameron County homes, voting on the best decorated house, reindeer, breakfast with Santa, crafters, vendors, sales, taking an elf class, decorating cookies all set for the weekend of December 13-15 in Cameron County.

The annual Christmas in the Wilds begins Friday night with the Cameron County Holiday House Tour. The fundraiser for the fireworks set for Friday July 3, opens homes for groups to meet the occupants, learn about the home and the cherished decorations. The tour begins at Flowers N Things at 5:30pm. Following the tour, participants will then gather at the Rich Valley Winery for refreshments following the event. Tickets are $20 each and a few remain.

Saturday morning begins with breakfast with Santa at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department. This fundraiser for the auxiliary runs from 9-11. Visitors are encouraged to bring their camera and take pictures with the jolly old elf! While eating Santa’s reindeer will arrive downtown! Vendors will open for business at 9am along East Fourth Street. The Emporium Senior Center will host a craft show and inside the chamber office, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services will encourage people to create Christmas cards for the elderly. At noon the annual Christmas parade steps off followed by Santa returning to A Christmas time to meet more children.

Saturday night the First Presbyterian Church will offer Sounds of the Season featuring musicians from the area. The Cameron County VFW will host the benefit dance and voting continues in the best decorated house contest.

The activities continue Sunday when parents and children are invited to A Christmas Time from 1-2pm to decorate cookies. At 3pm A special visitor from the North Pole will be at A Christmas Time at to teach Elf School. Elfie McJingles promises lots of fun for children while learning the four favorite food groups of elves and enjoying elf donuts which of course are cheerios! Both events are free, but pre-registration is suggested. The chamber office at 814-486-4314 has information on all events.
