Programs this weekend at Sinnemahoning State Park

Programs this weekend at Sinnemahoning State Park:

Saturday, May 18, 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM

Invasive Plant Survey, 40 Maples Day Use Area

Our fields, forests, and streams are under attack by invasive plants, and it’s time to fight back.

Join park staff and members of the First Fork Watershed Association at Sinnemahoning State Park on Saturday, May 18, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, to learn how to identify the most common invasive plants of Cameron and Potter Counties and discover the new species that threaten to invade our area. Then, take action by helping to survey the most susceptible habitats of the park, the tributaries and wetlands, for these invasive plants.

Pre-registration for the Invasive Plant Survey is requested.

Saturday, May 18, 12:00-2:00 PM

Pot-luck Luncheon and First Fork Watershed Meeting, 40 Maples Day Use Area

The invasive plant survey will be followed by a pot-luck luncheon and a meeting of the First Fork Watershed Association at the 40 Maples Day Use Area.

The First Fork Watershed Association (FFWA) is a non-profit organization established to protect and enhance the streams in the watershed of the First Fork Sinnemahoning Creek in Potter and Cameron Counties. Anyone who lives, works, or plays in the First Fork watershed is welcome to join the FFWA. Watershed association projects include stream bank stabilizations and habitat improvements to benefit residents, camp owners and other visitors who enjoy fishing, hunting, bird-watching, photography and other outdoor recreation. The watershed association meeting is open to the public and new members are welcome.

If you have questions about the watershed association, please contact Kathy Mitchell at (814) 274-3333 or at mom.mitchell@gmail.com.

Saturday, May 18, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
