Maxine A. Cleaveland


Maxine A. Cleaveland, 94, of 1079 Gardeau Rd., Austin, PA died at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA on Tuesday (August 29, 2017) morning.

She was born March 13, 1923 in Hyde, Clearfield County, PA a daughter of the late George and Enna Lawhead Peasley. On August 11, 1945 in First Baptist Church, Emporium she married the late Kenneth L. Cleaveland. Mrs. Cleaveland graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1941. Years ago she worked at Sylvania and then left work to raise her family. Maxine had a very strong faith and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Emporium and the Quilting Club. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening and loved her family. She was a very kind person always thinking of others.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Ivan) Baughman, Driftwood; Linda (Thomas) Russell, Warren, PA; Beth (David) McCaskill, Cortland, NY and two sons, William (Deborah) Cleaveland, Roanoke, VA and Dale (Cathy) Cleaveland, Columbus, OH; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two sisters, Donna Egan, Wicomico Church, VA and Georgiann Taylor, West Groten, MA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Enna Peasley; husband, Kenneth L. Cleaveland, great granddaughter, Kendyl Shaffer, great grandson, Josiah Russell; a brother, Howard Peasley and two sisters, Marie Cleaveland & Louise Hornung. 

Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E 4th St., Emporium on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 424 N. Broad Street, Emporium, PA on Friday (September 1, 2017) at 10:00 AM with Rev. James R. Horton, Jr., Pastor and Rev. Russell J. Horning, officiating.

Burial will folow in the Portage Township Cemetery, Austin, PA Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 424 N. Broad Street, Emporium, PA 15834
