CCHS Music Booster Meeting

Nels P. Nelson, Sr.
Nels P. Nelson, Sr., 55, of 7884 Mason Hill Rd., Driftwood, PA died at his residence, on Sunday (April 3, 2016) evening. He was born December 11, 1960 in Jeannette, PA a son of Lucille Wilson Nelson, Greensburg, PA and the late Richard Nelson. On February 26, 1982 in Jeanette he married Valerie Shusteric Nelson, who survives.
Mr. Nelson worked for Lumber Township for many years until he became ill in 2006. He was a member of the Sterling Run Sportsman Club and St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium. Nels was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving In addition to his wife Valerie Shusteric Nelson are
Sons Nels Nelson, Jr., New Stanton, PA and Luke Nelson and his wife Courtney, Kent, OH a daughter Shawna Hostler and Travis, Driftwood,
son Cory Humphrey, Driftwood and
8 Grandchildren; Victoria, Carlin, Novella, Aubree, Eli, Geneva, Laney, and River.
Two Brothers: Jim Bateman and Cara, Gibsonia,
Brother: Meldrum Nelson, Ruffs Dale, PA
Sister: Lorrie Clark, Yukon.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard Nelson and a Brother Rick Nelson.
Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday from 3:00 - 6:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 6:00 PM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, officiating.

WORLD WAR II PROGRAM
WORLD WAR II PROGRAM - Emporium Fire Hall - Saturday April 23, 2016 at 3 PM - Cameron County Historical Society is hosting a World War II Program featuring Steve Appleby, Director of the Eldred World War II Museum.
If you are a World War II enthusiast, a Veteran of the war, or just want to learn more about this war, this is a program you will want to attend. Appleby's WWII presentation will include artifacts from many collections in the museum emphasizing on what these men used and carried as they risked their lives. The museum carries a personal theme of what those of this incredible war fought endured resonates throughout the museum and through Appleby himself.
Appleby enlisted in the US Army after high school serving in the infantry and Special Forces until he retired a few years ago. The personal aspect behind these amazing men has been a strong passion of Appleby's since childhood and has remained important to him enough that he has become a foremost historian on this hard fought war.

Tammy L. Munsell
Tammy L. Munsell, 44, of 3959 Rich Valley Rd., Emporium, PA died at her residence Saturday morning. (March 26, 2016)
She was born June 26, 1971 in Smethport, PA a daughter of Ronald Zetwick, Crosby and the late Claudette Uber Zetwick.
On October 26, 2002 in Port Allegany she married Aaron Munsell, who survives.
Tammy graduated from Smethport High School in the class of 1989. She worked for over 25 years at GKN in Emporium. She was a member of the John Berg Post #976 American Legion Auxiliary, Crosby, PA
Surviving
In addition to her husband Aaron Munsell she is survived
two daughters Tylar (Joe) Botera, Erie and Tory Younkin, St. Marys,
one son Nathaniel Munsell, Emporium,
her Father & Step-Mother Ronald (Sherry) Zetwick, of Crosby and
a maternal grandmother Anna Mae Uber, Emporium, and
one brother Ronald "Tig" (Jeannie) Zetwick of Smethport
She was preceded in death by her mother Claudette Uber Zetwick.
To celebrate Tammy’s life the family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on (4-2-16) Saturday from 11:00 -12:00 where a memorial service will follow at noon with Rev. Paul Siebert officiating.

Scentual Medicine Class
Scentual Medicine is comforting the body, calming emotions and soothing the mind using essential oils. Due to a large response, the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center offering a two hour workshop Saturday April 9 1-3pm. Pat Martin, an aromatherapy practitioner will provide the history and how to effectively use essential oils. Participants will receive all the materials needed to make a skin lotion and inhaler.
The fee is $35.00 a person.

Streamside Landowner Workshop
The District is hosting a Landowners Workshop on March 31st with the County's Zoning Office and the Building and Sewage Code Officer. We will be introducing local and state rules and regulations that can affect those that live near a stream or are planning a construction project on their property. Penn Highlands Offers Class on Naloxone Administration For Opiod Overdose
Class Offered By Penn Highlands Elk On How To Administer Naloxone For Opioid Overdose
First responders are invited to attend training to administer naloxone for opioid overdoses. Classes are being taught by Penn Highlands Healthcare through a grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, or HRSA. It is free for responders in Elk, Clearfield, Jefferson, Cameron and McKean counties. Shown is Kim Cicon, grant program manager and director of the Emergency Department at Penn Highlands DuBois, who organizes and teaches the classes.
The next classes offered are 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 21, Penn Highlands Elk Education Room.
Continuing education time is awarded for pre-hospital personnel attending. Information will also be provided for first responder organizations for help in purchasing naloxone.

RIVER AND ROADWAY CLEAN-UP
Several local organizations will be coming together for our Annual River and roadside clean-up on Sunday March 20TH, and we are looking for volunteers. This is great opportunity to help make our area even more beautiful. You can choose to help clean the Driftwood Branch Stream or clean the roadway along Rt. 120. To participate in the river clean up you must have a canoe and a partner or kayak. You will be assigned to specific locations along the stream or highway. We will be meeting at the railroad bridge in Cameron at 12:00 (noon).
Gloves, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided to participants. We are hopeful that we will have enough volunteers to clean the Stream from Cameron to Driftwood and RT 120 from Emporium to Driftwood. Refreshments will be served. As always, we encourage young people to become involved in this event. This is a great way to make a positive impact and earn project service hours while having fun. You can register at the High School office. To earn service credits you must also sign in on location at the start and finish of the event. Bunny Breakfast Craft
The Easter Bunny will hop to Cameron County Saturday March 19 at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Hall. The breakfast menu includes pancake, sausage, scrambled eggs and beverages and will be served from 9-11am. The price is adults $5.00 and children $3.00.
This year children can make a bunny picture frame. The craft is included in the price plus all children will receive a treat from the bunny!
The money raised benefits the Cameron County Fireworks.
This year the fireworks will blast off Saturday July 2.

2016 FUND DRIVE
Over the past 40 years GKN Sinter Metals Emporium facilities (originally PPM) have been supporting the Cameron County Community Chest via employee contributions through payroll deduction. An added incentive is that the company also donates to the drive. Since the inception of this program, GKN has been a major contributor to the Cameron County Community Chest in helping it to meet the fund drive goals. Over the years since the program started, GKN has raised between 25% and 67% of the funds needed to hit the goals of the Community Chest.
This year the donations from GKN and its employees total $8,682.25. This represents 43% of the $20,200 goal. The CCCC commends GKN and their employees for their continued support of the Cameron County Community Chest.
We are now five months into the 2016 fund drive. With the donation from GKN, we have collected $20,923.25 toward our $20,200 goal. Thanks to all who have contributed to the 2016 Fund Drive
We still need your support. Donations and/or Memorials can be made for this drive through September of 2016. We will be keeping this drive open. Watch each month for updates.

Elaine K. Deaton
Elaine K. Deaton, 68, of Van Wert, passed away at 5:05 p.m., Wednesday at the VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born on April 19, 1947, in Columbus, the daughter of the late Richard and Mildred Sudman.
Family survivors include her two sons, Rich W. (Sheri) Kline and Kurt A. (Angie) Kline, all of Ohio City; a brother, William “Bill” Sudman of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Grace and Olivia Kline, and Kory and Kirsten Kline; two step grandchildren, Stephen and Lucas Sullivan; and two nieces, Kelly "Dee" Nuding of Celina and Kristen Sudman of Mendon.
Elaine was a 1965 graduate of New Knoxville High School and retired from
GKN Sinter Metals in Emporium.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Carolyn M. May, 86, of 324 W. 4th St., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys, PA on Saturday (March 12, 2016) evening. She was born February 11, 1930 in Coudersport, PA a daughter of the late Victor and Sophena Eick Moffitt.
Mrs. May graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1947. She worked a long time as a waitress for several local restaurants and also did some catering several years. She also owned a general store and gas station on Sizerville Road many years ago. She enjoyed puzzles, reading and time with her family.

QCare, St. Marys Expands to Accommodate More Patients
QCare St. Marys, which is located on the first floor of the Medical Office Building, has recently expanded to more than double its original size. Officials at Penn Highlands Elk saw a need for the expansion, as patient volumes continue to rise
.
“Patients enjoy the convenience of QCare,” explained Bill Wittman, CRNP, one of the office’s providers. “They don’t have to make an appointment. They can come the moment they begin to feel sick or they experience an injury. Our proximity to the hospital’s lab and imaging services is another great benefit.”
The newly-remodeled office provides a much larger waiting area with a private alcove for collecting patient information. The number of exam rooms has expanded from three to seven.
“The increase in exam rooms helps to accommodate our expanded staff,” said Rose Campbell, president at Penn Highlands Elk
.
There are three full-time providers at QCare St. Marys: Wittman; Melanie Riglin, PA-C; and Erin Lingenfelter, PA-C. Other providers are Shelby Davison, PA-C; Lisa Vivian, PA-C; Lindsay Hoffman, PA-C; Mary Schimp, PA-C; and Tonya Aversa, CRNP.
The hours have expanded, as well, with the office now being open seven days a week, except holidays.
Hours of operation are 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
“Anyone from the public is welcome,” said Wittman. “We enjoy seeing both new and familiar faces.”

The second Sunday of every month is Cameron County Community Food Pantry Collection Sunday. Please bring nonperishable food items and drop them in the designated location at your church. If you would prefer a monetary donation, please place an envelope in the collection that is labeled “Food Bank.” Thank you so very much for your help to provide food to individuals and families of Cameron County. Cameron County Community Food Pantry is a ministry provided by the Cameron County Ministerial Association.
