Archibald “Arch” Robinson

Archibald “Arch” Robinson, Jr., 95, formerly of West Sixth Street, Emporium, Seneca Falls, New York and Lantana, Florida, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium. Born July 1, 1923 in Watertown, NY he was the son of Archibald and Emma Lione Robinson. He was a 1940 graduate of Watertown High School and St. Lawrence University in 1943. On December 29, 1945 in Williamsport he married Evelyn Marie Sullivan, his wife of 57 years, who passed away June 1, 2002.

He relocated to Emporium in 1943 where he was employed by Sylvania Electric until being transferred to Seneca Falls in 1970 where he was employed until retiring in 1979. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Emporium. He was also a member & past president of the Emporium Men’s Club, and a member of the Cameron County Grand Prix Association, Emporium Shade Tree Commission and Emporium Masonic Lodge #382 F& AM

He coached & played baseball & softball in Emporium for many years. After retiring he enjoyed wintering in Florida where he played softball for the Boynton Beach Seniors until he was 80 years old. Arch played in two Senior Softball World Series, one in Greensboro, NC and one in Houston, TX. He loved sports of all kinds like hunting, fishing, tennis and skiing and he shared this love by teaching hunter safety at the Sylvania Rifle Club where he was a member of the rifle team. He was a founding member of the Sylvania Ski Club and the Cowley Hill Ski Run. He also enjoyed traveling with his family all over the United States and Europe.

Arch is survived by: one son, David Robinson of Emporium; one daughter, Beverly Dirvonas and her husband Thomas of Windsor, Colorado; two grandsons, Scott Dirvonas and his wife Heather of Edwards, Colorado and Michael Dirvonas and his wife Erin of Fort Collins, Colorado; and four great grandchildren, Lauren, Amanda, Maxwell, and Evan Dirvonas all at home.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorial donations may be made to the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 W 4th Street, Bucktail Rod & Gun Club, c/o Carl Carlson, 125 E 5th Street, or Guy & Mary Felt Manor, 110 E 4th Street, all in Emporium, PA 15834.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
