Dr. Raj K. Jolly, 62, of 368 Sabula Outing Club Rd., DuBois, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 13, 1951 in New Delhi, India, a son of the late Yagya Datta and Savitri Jolly.
In 1975 in New Delhi, India, he married Anju Jolly, who survives.
Dr. Jolly was a recipient of the Indian National Science Talent Scholarship in high school. He attended the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India. In 1975, he came to the United States with his wife. He completed his residency at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and a fellowship at Temple University in Philadelphia. He joined St. Marys hospital in 1980 and practiced as an ear, nose and throat doctor in St. Marys until 2013.
Dr. Jolly enjoyed jogging and skiing, astronomy as a hobby, and also loved to learn new languages, especially French and Spanish.
In addition to his wife of more than 38 years, Anju Jolly, he is survived by a son Ravi K. Jolly and his wife Laura, Queens, N.Y.; a daughter, Rashmi Jolly-Dalai and her husband Suresh of Shanghai, China; a granddaughter, Manika Dalai; a grandson, Avik Dalai; and a brother, Captain Arun K. Jolly of Cypress, Calif.
A Memorial Service for Dr. Raj K. Jolly, MD will be held at the Treasure Lake Church, 226 Treasure Lake, DuBois, on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11 a.m.
A gathering with the family will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St, St. Marys on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m.
