Good News from DCNR!
Leonard Harrison State Park will reopen to visitors tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 1).
The main parking areas and flush facilities will be open to visitors. Visitors will have access to the overlooks, including the spectacular Pennsylvania Grand Canyon East Rim Overlook. Visitors will also be able to utilize the Overlook Trail as well as the Turkey Path that connects the park to the Pine Creek Rail Trail.
The campground will be accepting new reservations, beginning Sept. 1 through the end of October.
Construction will be ongoing, with certain areas being temporarily closed as progress continues. Landscaping will be on going throughout the fall and spring, with specific grass mixes and tree plantings planned.
Also, the Park Visitor Center exhibit area, retail shopping area and outdoor seating will not open until Spring. The pavilion and lower day-use picnic area will be closed this fall.
While Leonard Harrison has been closed, we’ve seen visitor traffic increase by 60 percent at Colton Point State Park. I appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we finalize this project.
