Cameron County Farmers Market
We are excited to welcome not only a new vendor to the market but also a new member to our community, the very lively Amanda Knight with The Knights Wand!
Amanda moved to Emporium in July of this year and her enthusiasm for our small town is infectious! Wanting a better life for herself and her son, she decided to relocate from Philly to follow her mom here to Cameron County and the quieter, safer lifestyle it offered.
Ever since she moved here, her new business has blossomed as locals discovered her talent for crocheting and design. She debuted her crafts at the Cameron County Fair last month and also attended the Super Weekend celebrations where she proved to be very popular.
Amanda creates an array of different crocheted products from vibrantly colorful garments, purses, hats, keychains and headbands to her signature specialty: Emotional Support Chickens. Each beautifully crocheted chicken is accompanied by a nest and a unique affirmation that Amanda hand-writes herself with each recipient in mind.
She takes great pleasure in composing each note and says that “the thought of the smile it will evoke makes every stitch, every late night and every hand cramp absolutely worth it!”.
She learned to crochet the basic granny stitch at a young age from her Mennonite babysitter and honed this skill through the pandemic, teaching herself to not only crochet more challenging patterns but to also design and customize a plethora of unique products.
The garments she creates are truly fun, coming in all sorts of colors and styles. If you can’t find what you’re looking for Amanda takes orders too and will happily tackle any new challenge that comes her way. You can find her on most of the social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, under her business name, The Knights Wand.
Or, better yet, stop by to say hello to our newest vendor on market day this Saturday, 9 September, 9am to 12pm, at the Emporium Town Square.
Welcome to the market, Amanda!
