Andrew Philip Tompkins, 57, of 201 Hemlock Street, Apt. 2, Emporium, PA, departed this life on Friday morning (February 8, 2019) at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys, PA.
Andy was born on August 19, 1961 in St. Marys, the son of the late Edwin W. Tompkins II and Phyllis M. (Keith) Tompkins.
Andy graduated from Cameron County High School, Class of 1980, where he was a starting forward on the Varsity Basketball Team. Following graduation, he attended Lock Haven University for a period of time.
Andy then enlisted in the United States Air Force, and proudly served for 4 years as a Security Policeman, before being Honorably Discharged as an NCO. Relocating back home from Sacramento, CA, Andy worked in local industry for many years, with his last place of employment at Embassy Powder Metals, Inc.
He is survived by a sister, Jill M. (Tompkins) Goubeaux of Falls Church, VA, Matthew K. Tompkins of Philadelphia, Edwin W. (Rose) Tompkins III of Emporium, and five nieces and nephews (Kelly, Drew, Christopher, Matthew, and Claire), all of whom will miss Andy in their lives.
Andy was a gentle soul and a loyal friend; a quiet man with a keen intellect and witty sense of humor (truly an example of "Still Waters Run Deep"). He was passionate about animals, classic rock, modern military movies and history, and the Steelers and Pirates.
There will be No Visitation.
Private Service will be at the convenience of the family.
