Cameron County Little League received a face-lift on some of
their signs from visiting Michigan artist, Carol Duncan Poore shown here with
Glen Fiebig.
For those of you who haven’t noticed, baseball season is in
full swing and Emporium’s fields are greening up and being played on nearly
every night of the week. Our town also annually
hosts the State Tournament for players from all over PA. With all of that use, some things are bound
to get worn out. The signage at the
fields was looking a bit tired so local resident Dana Crisp volunteered to
remove and replace them with updated signs that looked and felt more welcoming
to our visitors as well as our players and fans of the game.
Crisp removed all of the signs and then recruited her mom,
Carol Duncan Poore to design, letter and produce them during her stay over the
last few weeks. All of their time was
donated and the Cameron County Little League (CCLL) purchased all materials
locally. From the start, Crisp wanted
the signs to have a theme that matched the existing sign on the memorial wall
that was completed by local PA Wilds artisan, Nelson Haas back in the
1980’s. Poore utilized the ball player
on Haas’ original sign and incorporated it into the new signs so every sign has
the same “feel”. She and Crisp then put
some fresh paint on Nelson’s sign and created a new parking area sign as
well. The staff at CCLL is installing
them and some of Poore’s new signs are already up!
