Environmental Education Programs for the weekend of July 8th

Program Title: Awesome Amphibians
Date: Saturday, July 8 th
Time: 3:00 – 4:30 PM
Location: Environmental Learning Center
Description: Do you know all the different types of amphibians that PA has to
offer?
Come out to this program and find out information on frogs, salamanders,
toads, and newts. Short talk followed by exploring the park to try and find some
of these cool critters!

Program Title: What’s the Score?
Date: Saturday, July 8th
Time: 8:00 – 9:30 PM
Location: Campground Amphitheater
Description: What is the Boone & Crockett Club? Who founded it? Why is antler
scoring important to conservation?
All these questions and more will be
addressed at this program! Short talk followed by a live demonstration of scoring
an elk antler, plus the chance for you to try as well!

Program Title: Dutch Oven Cooking
Date: Sunday, July 9th
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 PM
Location: Pavilion 5
Description: Join State Park Volunteers, John and Jan Halter, as they show us how
people used to cook using just a fireplace and a Dutch oven.
Presentation and
demonstration of how cakes were made using these tools will be taking place at
Pavilion 5 in Sizerville State Park. Samples of the cakes will be provided at the end
of the program.

Impromptu (Every Week):
Saturday afternoon – 5:00 PM
Poolside Powwow
o Take a break from the pool, grab a snack or ice cream, and join the
park educator for a short impromptu program. The topic will be
revealed at the powwow, so come join us and see!

Additional Information:
In case of thunder, lightning, or extreme weather conditions programs may be moved or
cancelled.

With a minimum of one week notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing
are available for educational programs.
