Mountaineer Search and Rescue Looking for Your Help

Endless Mountains Chapter 34 A.B.A.T.E. and Mack’s Rhythm & Brews Inc are hosting a fund raiser to benefit Mountaineer Search and Rescue. The event includes entertainment by Jonathan Meade, 50/50, and Chinese Auction. The doors at Mack’s Rhythm & Brews Sports Bar will open Saturday February 3 at 7pm.

“The chapter supports organizations in the community,” says A.B.A.T.E. president Robin Overturf. Mountaineer Search and Rescue team members are highly trained in finding lost and missing individuals in the region. This year during hunting season, the team aided in the search for individuals in Elk, Potter and Cameron Counties. The team also volunteers at events in the county including but not limited to Cameron County Canoe and Kayak Classic, and Sizerville State Park Autumn Festival, plus places American Flags on the parking meters in downtown Emporium eleven times a year.

The team relies on donations and state aid to provide materials and fuel for traveling to calls. The only fundraiser for the team is the Big Foot Hunt held in conjunction with Weekend in the Wilds held the first Saturday of July. “Because of the limited resources for this volunteer organization, we wanted to shine the spotlight on the volunteers and provide funding for Mountaineer Search and Rescue” continued Overturf.

The local A.B.A.T.E. chapter promotes motorcycle rights across Pennsylvania. Endless Mountains Chapter 34 is the smallest in the state with 48 members. The group meets at 11AM the second Saturday of each month at the Emporium Moose. Membership is open to anyone, including those that do not own motorcycles.
