This Labor Day weekend, the park staff at Sinnemahoning State Park are offering a full line-up of programs with something for everyone to enjoy.
Saturday, September 4
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Crayfish Crazy.
Splash into the wild world of crayfish and explore their freshwater habitat! Free family program. Nets and containers provided All ages welcome. Parents will be asked to assist young children. Dress to get wet. Water shoes recommended. 40 Maples Day Use Area.
Saturday, September 4
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Monarch Butterfly Tagging.
Monarch butterfly migration presentation followed by a short walk to catch, tag, and release monarch butterflies. Arial nets provided. Wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared to walk through fields. All ages welcome. Please note: Presentation will be held rain or shine, but tagging will not take place in wet or rainy weather. Meet in Wildlife Center Classroom.

Family Owl Craft.
Create an owl puppet while learning about the adaptations that make owls excellent night-time hunters. Best for ages 4–10. Campground Amphitheater.

Campground Movie: Magic of the Snowy Owl.
Discover how the beautiful snowy owl survives and raises young in the harshest of environments. Short campground talk followed by 1-hour PBS Nature video. Campground Amphitheater.

9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:00 PM – Pontoon Tours
Pontoon Boat Tours.
Join park staff for a relaxing and informative 1-hour tour of the lake as we search the shoreline for herons, ducks, turtles, and other wildlife. Program is free but donations are requested. All ages welcome. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Lake Day Use Area.

Experience the wonder of the park at night through a laser-guided tour of the night sky. If weather conditions permit, telescopes will be available for an up close look at celestial objects. All ages welcome. No pre-registration required. Wildlife Viewing Area.
