Stephan "Uncle Steve" Carson

Stephan H. “Uncle Steve” “Steve-O” Carson passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the age of 61. Born in St. Marys, PA, to the late Deanna Ristine and Robert B. Carson, Steve is survived by his loving sister “Sis,” Robin C. McGhee; Cousin-Brother, Brian Cooney; nephews and nieces, Patrick McGhee (Hayley), Brendon McGhee, Ciara Werner and Lauryn “Pooh-Bear” Cooney; Cousins, Megan Grandy, Craig Platt, Holly Carson, Michael Carson, Scott Carson, and Anne Carson; by his dear friend Mary Hardie; and by his adoring pup, Maggie-Moo. Steve also leaves behind his many beloved friends and fellow parishioners.

Steve was a hard worker for GTE Sylvania for 10 years, but his passion for the sport of golf led him to obtain his PGA Professional Membership License. Steve became the Golf Pro at Emporium Country Club, where he owned and managed his own Pro shop. Steve was devoted to making sure all members felt special and enjoyed their time on the course. Steve would then decide to move to Grand Blanc, MI, with his cousin Brian and Brian’s daughters, Ciara and Pooh-Bear. Steve settled in as the golf pro and general manager at Goodrich Country Club. This time in Michigan was one of the most enjoyable times because the friendships, laughs, and stories - which Steve always cherished and shared - were numerous.

In 2011, after the tragic loss of his beloved brother-in-law, John A. McGhee, Steve decided to move to Southampton, PA, to love and care for his “Sis” and nephews. His heart and wisdom aided his family in managing and operating the family business, James J. McGhee Funeral Home. Almost everyone he would come into contact with would quickly grow to love him and refer to him as “Uncle Steve.”. He converted to Catholicism because of his admiration for Our Lady of Good Counsel Church parishioners’ faith and community. He would soon become a Eucharistic Minister and help run the Parish Carnival. He would also join the Knights of Columbus. Steve found much enjoyment and zen in taking care of gardening, the lawn, his pool, and most of all, throwing the ball one more time to his Maggie-Moo.

Steve would make sure to say, “If I go, do not be sad for me; I am home with God!”

Uncle Steve’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 20th, from 9 to 10:30 AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave. Southampton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Steve will be laid to rest next to his brother-in-law and friend, John, at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
