The Cameron County SPCA would like to inform the public that as of February 12, 2021, we will no longer have a local Humane Officer working for our organization. The Officer's license will be expiring shortly and he has decided to not renew and retire from this position. At this time we would like to say thank you to him and wish him well in his retirement and future endeavors.
How does this affect Cameron County?
If anyone suspects the abuse or neglect of an animal they can call the Emporium State Police at 486-3321 or call 911. The SPCA will assist the police in any way we can. Humane Officer, Jack Ardrey, Jr., out of Williamsport also has jurisdiction in Cameron County. He can be reached at 215-426-6300. If an animal needs to be taken from the property, the SPCA will accept those animals at the shelter and we will see to its well being until the case is resolved. If the animal is surrendered, then the organization will see that it finds an adopted home. If one needs to report a loose dog within the Borough of Emporium they would call the Dog Law Officer of the Borough at 814-335-6251. To report a loose dog out of the borough, call the Emporium State Police at 486-3321.
This change, however, does not affect our other services that we offer to the county. Our spay & neutering vouchers are still available for those who need assistance and we continue to have animals available for adoption at the kennel. If you are interested, you can set up an appointment to visit the kennel by calling 486-0101. In the near future we hope to have our annual rabies clinic, yard sale, bake sales and raffles.
