Programs This Weekend at Sinnemahoning
This weekend Sinnemahoning State Park is offering three educational programs: a hands-on stream study and elk presentation on Saturday, August 8, and an introductory archery program on Sunday, August 9.
Stream Study, Saturday, August 8, 2:30 PM - 3:15 PM. Explore the habitat of a freshwater stream and learn about the animals that live there. Nets and containers will be provided. All ages are welcome. Parents will need to assist younger children. Limited to 20 people or 4 families. Wear water shoes and dress for the water. Bring a face mask. Meet at 40 Maples Day Use Area.
Elk in the First Fork Valley, Saturday, August 8, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Take a look into the fascinating life of one of our largest, most intriguing wild animals. Learn the history of elk in Pennsylvania from the early beginnings of the commonwealth to the modern day. Campground talk will be followed by 33-minute video. Bring a face mask. Held at the Campground Amphitheater.
Discover Archery, Sunday, August 9, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Discover your inner Robin Hood using Genesis compound bows. Introductory course led by a certified USA Archery instructor. For ages 11 to adult. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required. Limit 10 people. Bring a face mask. Cancelled if rain. Meet at the Wildlife Center.
To mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19: Until further notice, all programs at Sinnemahoning State Park will be held outdoors, will be limited to 25 people or less, and will follow social-distancing guidelines. Bring your face mask. All participants must wear a face covering while attending programs.
