Emily D. Summers, 87, of 105 Elmwood Dr., Emporium, PA died at her residence, Emporium, PA Monday, May 20, 2019 afternoon. She was born August 7, 1931 in Danville, PA a daughter of the late Winchester and Catharine Koons DeVoe.
On July 20, 1957 in Danville, PA she married the late
Grant Summers.
Mrs. Summers graduated from the College of William & Mary and later received her masters from Temple University. She was a school teacher in the Cameron County School District for many years. Emily was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Emporium.
She is survived by daughter, Susan Markum, Emporium; son, Richard Summers and his wife Karen, Emporium; daughter, Sara, Mrs. Richard Woodhead, Middletown, PA; four grandchildren: Christopher James Markum, Shelby (Bryan) Sterling and Vincent Summers, Daniel (Sara) Woodhead and two great grandchildren: Lucille and Ezekiel Woodhead;
and a sister, Jane Schwab, Hollywood Beach, Florida.
She was preceded in death by parents, Winchester and Catharine Koons DeVoe, Husband, Grant Summers who died Feb. 29, 2008, and a son-in-law James Markum on Feb. 2, 2017.
There will be No Visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Burial Service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday (May 22, 2019) at 6:00 PM with
Father Matt Ryan, Rector, officiating.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, PA
