Sinnemahoning State Park, is offering a fun lesson on the popular sport of cross-country skiing through the Cross Country Skiing for Beginners program on Saturday, February 2nd, from 1 – 3 PM, at the Wildlife Center.
Experienced skier and former downhill ski instructor, Curt Weinhold, will explain the basics of cross-country skiing, equipment, and techniques and will guide beginners in practicing the "kick and glide" method.
Program will begin in the classroom with basic instruction, then head outdoors to a flat area to practice techniques. When participants are ready, Curt will lead the group on a short ski trip down the Lowlands Trail.
All equipment, including skis, poles, and boots will be provided. A limited number of adult sizes are available. Participants should dress in moisture-wicking layers and wear a waterproof outer layer. Blue jeans are not recommended.
Pre-registration is required by Thursday, January 31. To pre-register for a program, please visit the online DCNR Calendar of Events at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov. Be sure to include your shoe size in the "Comments" section.
