Mary Louise Blumle

Mary Louise Blumle, age 89, of East Third Street, Emporium, died Friday, October 9, 2015, in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Born January 18, 1926 in Emporium, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Lechner Blumle.

Born and raised in Emporium, she was a 1943 graduate of Emporium High School and went on to earn a degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie. She was a veteran of the US Air Force having served as 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. For 22 years she was employed with the State Department as a Foreign Service staff officer and spent many years in Washington DC and abroad in Ottawa, London, and several locations in South America. She returned to Emporium following her retirement in 1980.

Ms. Blumle was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium, the Antique Seekers of Cameron County (formerly the Questers), and served for many years as treasurer of the Cameron County Historical Society as well as on the Board of Directors of the Guy & Mary Felt Manor in Emporium. For several years she assisted friends by managing the office of the Buttonwood Motel in Emporium on alternating weekends.

Survivors include two cousins, Charles (Judy) Blumle of Emporium and Leo (Margaret) Blumle of Virginia Beach.

She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Blumle in 1972, and a sister, Carolyn Blumle in 1928.

There was no visitation. A private burial with Military honors and family in attendance was held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 in St. Mark Church with Fr. Paul Siebert, pastor, as celebrant.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County Historical Society, St. Mark Church, or the Guy and Mary Felt Manor in Emporium.
