Robert J. Sarick, 88, of Emporium, PA, passed away November 27, 2013.
at Guy & Mary Felt Manor with his loving wife at his side.
He was born July 21, 1925, in Emporium, PA., to the late Joseph and Anna (Fritz) Sarick.
On April 23, 1955 in Austin, PA he married Josephine L. (Rotello) Sarick who survives.
Mr. Sarick served in the Navy in WWII (1943-1946) and Korean War (1950-1954) as a Seaman and served on the USS South Dakota, the most decorated battleship of WWII; He was present in Tokyo Bay on 9/2/46 during the formal surrender of the Japanese Forces to the Allied Powers. After returning from WWII, he graduated from Emporium High School in Class of 1948. Robert was employed by the Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., for 35 years; a member of St. Mark’s Church where he served as lead usher and a lifetime member of Miller Raffaele VFW Post 6221. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially golf, dancing and taking long walks around Emporium.
Surviving in addition to his wife Josephine Sarick, he has 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
Mr. Sarick was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Michael and John (Sonny) Sarick and 3 sisters, Mary Wheaton, Anna Steele and Clara Graner and 2 nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium on Saturday (November 30, 2013) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. Visitation with Tribute Video will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 PM.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA
