Saturday at 5:10pm as some members were just returning to station from Tri-County Fire School from their HAZ-MAT Operations class, the 14 House was dispatched to 218 Sterling Run Road Fire Box 14-05 for the first wildfire of the 2011 season.
Brush 14 (P. UBER) Utillity 14 (C. OLAY) and Assistant 14 (P. REED) all went enroute at the time of dispatch. Followed closely behind by Engine 14-2 (C. CROSBY) Rescue 14 (C. ARTMAN) Chief 14 (B. HOUSLER) and Deputy 14 (AB AIKENS). Once Utillity and Brush 14 were on scene at 5:25pm.
Their crews went to work with Indian cans, Rakes, and a Booster line to extinguish the fire. Engine 14-2 and Rescue 14 were staged and ordered to send their manpower to scene. Chief 14 called the Fire under control at 5:54pm. All in all 18 firefighters from EFD worked together to contain this approximately 1 acre wildfire.
