Don was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Ward, W.V., the son of the late Samuel Goodson and Dora Riggs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Goodson.
He graduated from Gauleybridge High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. After he retired from Dowell, he moved from Lakewood to Laurinburg, N.C.
He is survived by his daughters: Jane (Dr. James) Campbell of Bemus Point; Donna (Dyke) Ansted of Whispering Pines, N.C.; Teresa (Jeff) Ream of Emporium, Pa.; sister Lynn (Ronald) Eby of Norton, Ohio; brother Lee (Alice) Goodson of Ocala, Fla., 10 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and three stepchildren.
Funeral arrangements are through the Powell Funeral Home, Pinehurst, N.C., and the Cooks Funeral Home, Cedar Grove, W.V.
