Edward J. Shok

                                                                             
Edward J. Shok, 93, formerly of DuBois, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at his son’s residence in La Quinta, CA.

Born August 12, 1917 in Emporium, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Ogershok. On September 26, 1942, in DuBois, he married Evelyn L. Yusnukis who died September 25, 2007.

He was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army.

A graduate of Sandy High School and DuBois Business College, Mr. Shok was a Nationwide insurance agent in DuBois for 40 years. In addition to residing in DuBois for 75 years he also kept residences in Sinnamahoning and Flagler Beach, FL.

A Catholic by faith, he was a member of St. Catherine’s of Siena, DuBois and St. James, Driftwood. An avid fisherman, Mr. Shok enjoyed keeping track of the stock market, watching baseball and spending time with loved ones.

Survivors include: one daughter, Bonnie Shok of Long Beach, CA; three sons, Paul Shok of Conneaut Lake, Ken Shok and wife Terri of La Quinta, CA, and Edward Shok II and wife Angela of Luthersburg; five grandchildren; one brother, Frank Ogershok of DuBois; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Shok was predeceased by seven brothers, seven sisters, and a grandson, Brian Shok.

A private viewing will be held in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
A Mass of Christian Burial with committal services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 16 in St. Mark Church, Emporium with Rev. Paul Siebert as celebrant.
Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Burial will be in Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA.
