There were over 100 youth registered on Saturday, April 6th for CCOYA’s annual Youth Fishing Event.
The event provides children ages 14 years old and under an opportunity to test their fishing skills and become hooked on Fishing.
Capitol City Bassmasters were on sight with a casting competition and a handful of lucky kids left with a brand-new fishing rod! Troopers from the Pennsylvania state Police was on site for most of the day interacting with the youth and allowing them to check out the vehicle. Along with PSP the Cameron County Game Warden was also on sight.
The students and many local volunteers were a huge help in setting up, registering, picture taking, manning the stations and making sure that everyone was having a good time. Hot Dogs, hamburgers, hot chocolate and drinks, along with dozens of cookies were available. There are still many fish in the pond.
Youth 14 and under are welcome and asked to register when arriving and enter the number of fish taken prior to leaving. This will help determine when future stockings are necessary.
CCOYA would like to thank the students of CCHS, Emporium Fire Police, Smoker Logging, J & J Baits, our loyal cooking staff and the many volunteers that helped make this event a successful and a memorable day for the youth.
